Video Update on Weight Loss Week Five - From the Kayak Superbowl Sunday


Michelle Tennant Nicholson was "Leader of the Pack" last week in Jillian Michael's "Make the Change - Be the Change" 2011 Challenge. She's done cooking demos and did a nine part series on visiting the organic farm from which her CSA (community supported agriculture) veggies and meats come every week. Instead of watching the Superbowl, Michelle is out enjoying a 50 degree day February 6, 2011 with her husband Shannon Nicholson and their female husky, Lou Lou (who has gained a bit of weight this winter and is out to lose her weight too). Michelle provides her weekly video update from her whitewater kayak instead of her treadmill desk. After this 5 hour jaunt on the river was over, Michelle looked at her new gadget - her MIO Heart Monitor watch and was blown away when the watch said she had burned 2750 calories that afternoon. It makes sense that the trainer from JillianMichaels.com tells her to eat more from time to time to break her plateaus. For years, Michelle has been unable to lose weight despite a resting heart rate of 47 (average is 70 and 47 indicates an athlete) but a dress size of 16W. Michelle regularly kayaks 3-4 times a week burning this many calories. What she's learning from Jillian and the team there is to fuel her body like an athlete, not a dieter.
